Crown princess Mette- Marit of Norway’s eldest son, Marius Borg Hoiby, was allegedly detained on Sunday. According to Se og Hør, the 27-year-old stepson was detained following an “incident in an apartment” in Oslo. Marius allegedly attacked a woman in her 20s “psychologically and physically.
Although details aren’t clear enough the police said there was “a relationship between the suspect and the victim.” In a statement, officers said they “currently do not have information that the victim has suffered serious injuries.”
On Monday the woman was taken to hospital and diagnosed with a concussion before she was discharged early.
The 27-year-old royal was thrown in solitary confinement and subjected to a blood test for drugs, Se og Hør reported.
However, the Norwegian news agency NTB said that Mette-Marit had postponed her planned trip to attend the Olympic Games in Paris while her husband Haakon traveled to the French capital. The reason for the postponement was not given.
In Paris, Haakon told Norwegian reporters that “it is a serious matter when the police are involved in the way they are, but at the same time it is not right for me to go into the details of the case.”
Borg Høiby lives with the royal couple and their two children — Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus.
It was reported that Øyvind Bratlien, a lawyer with expertise in high-profile criminal cases, has been hired by Borg Høiby.
