T.I. Was Arrested In Atlanta Airport Over A Case Of Mistaken Identity But Was Quickly Released

Authorities in Atalanta arrested rapper T.I. on Sunday after mistaking him for another man

The 45-year-old rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., was taken into the Clayton County Jail on a fugitive from justice charge.

Although the arrest was originally meant for a man who bears the same name as Clifford Harris from Maryland for supposed violence against a woman, including stalking and possible possession of a gun, the reality TV star’s attorney Steve Sadow told TMZ, which was the first to report the news.

However, the arrest for mistaken identity comes nearly seven months after T.I. and his wife Tameka ”Tiny” Harris faced a new lawsuit from a woman who claimed the couple drugged and sexually assaulted her in a hotel room in 2005.

An extradition hearing was automatically triggered because the warrant came from out of state.

Just before the extradition process could progress further, T.I.’s attorney allegedly intervened. According to TMZ, T.I.’s lawyer, Steve Sadow, quickly made a phone call to someone at the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office and had the rapper released from custody within two hours of his arrest.

The judge who was assigned the case at the extradition hearing reviewed T.I.’s case and quickly dismissed the order.

judging from what may have helped the officials realize they had the wrong Clifford Harris could have come down to physical description and attributes. The Clifford Harris wanted in Maryland reportedly weighs 205 pounds while T.I. reportedly weighs 165 pounds, per TMZ.

The Post has reached out to T.I.’s lawyer for additional comment.
